Hector Escalante Meza is the Director of the Ombuds Office at the University of California, Merced. He previously served as the inaugural ombuds for the University of the Pacific and is a consultant for organizations, colleges, and non-profit companies. With a background in both management and academia, Escalante has established new ombuds offices in both sectors. 

In addition to his work as a consulting ombuds at Escalante Ombuds Consulting, Escalante holds a Doctor of Education and a Master of Fine Arts in creative non-fiction writing. He also has years of experience as a college professor before transitioning to academic administration. Escalante is a trained mediator, DISC profile facilitator, Crucial Conversations Trainer, 3 Practice Circle facilitator, and a conflict resolution professional. Currently, he teaches a conflict and negotiation course at the University of the Pacific. As an Organizational Ombuds, Escalante works with individuals and groups in an organization to explore and determine options for resolving complex workplace conflicts.
